The House votes 255-67 to hold Eric Holder in contempt. Ace writes that since 17 Dems voted for contempt, that means it’s a bipartisan move. And:“The Democrats staged a walk out. From WI and IN to the House of Representatives, when Democrats don’t get their way they walk away like spoiled little brats.”

Remember, this is the “program” that is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocent Mexicans, and Americans, including Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. In a more honest world, it would have been considered an act of war, and Holder would have been on trial at least a year ago. Myself, I’d even have tossed treason charges in as well. The point being, of course, that this was a violation of the rights of both the child and the parents. This is not about the value or dangers of vaccines. This is about people deciding on medical treatment for themselves. This is about the government deciding every little intimate detail about how you live your life. [You’d think the “My Body, My Choice” crowd would get that idea, but I guess it only counts when ending innocent life is concerned.]

While I do believe in the concept of “herd immunity”– I’ve also never had the flu shot. And only gotten the (repertory) flu twice in my life. Whereas, everyone I know who gets the shot, ends up with the illness. I’ve never known someone to get the shot, maybe be symptomatic for a couple of days after (as we are warned can happen), but then go on to have a perfectly healthy flu-season. Everyone ends up with a respertory bug of some nature, every season, except those of us who don’t get the shot. That tells me all I really need to know . . .

Do Not Be Taken In By False Choices!

The news today is all about an “Accomodation” the White house is proposing in the whole Birth Control Mandate Dabacle. I hope and pray no one falls for this. Here’s how it’s being described:

One source familiar with the decision described the accommodation as “Hawaii-plus,” insisting that it’s better than the Hawaii plan – for both sides.

In Hawaii the employer is responsible for referring employees to places where they can obtain the contraception; Catholic leaders call that material cooperation with evil. But what the White House will likely announce later today is that the relationshio between the religious employer and the insurance company will not need to have any component involving contraception. The insurance company will reach out on its own to the women employees. This is better for both sides, the source says, since the religious organizations do not have to deal with medical care to which they object, and women employees will not have to be dependent upon an organization hostile to that care in order to obtain it.

This announcement would not go that far. Sources say it will involve health insurance companies helping to provide the coverage, since it’s actually cheaper for these companies to offer the coverage than to not do so, because of unwanted pregnancies and resulting complications.

Rick Moran adds:

Basically, the White House is offering a sleight of hand solution, allowing Catholic organizations to deliberately turn the other way when insurance companies offer the coverage, thus “sparing” them the burden of having to offer it themselves.

Let me make something clear. There are two ways to sin– by commission and by ommission. Commision is doing something sinful. Omission is failing to even try to prevent sin when you have the ability to stop it, or failing to do something you ought to be doing. It works like this: If you murder someone, you have sinned by commission. If you see someone being murdered, and take no action to stop it, you sin by omission. The second is equally as severe a sin as the first. Got it? [My own failings on some issues condemn me, I fear, as I have not been as zealous in my duties as I should have been.]

So, what the WH is offering here, is basically this: “Instead of forcing you to sin by commission, we’re offering the option of sinning by omission instead.”

CHICAGO , March 24 (Reuters) – U.S. grain firm Gavilon Grain said on Thursday it will buy Union Elevator and Warehouse’s 16 grain elevators in the Pacific Northwest , the company’s second big purchase of U.S. grain facilities in the last six months. Privately held Union Elevator, where employees own a significant share of the company, approved the transaction on Wednesday, with sale expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2011.
The purchase of 16 elevators at 12 locations in eastern Washington will expand Gavilon’s grain capacity by 8.4 mbu.
“The addition of Union Elevator’s grain facilities and origination capabilities position us well to support the growing Pacific Northwest export wheat market and serve the Columbian Basin feed grain market,” Greg Konsor, VP and GM of Gavilon Grain, said in a statement. The PNW is the No. 1 wheat export terminal in the United States .
Omaha, Nebraska-based Gavilon — a commodity trading firm formed in 2008 when ConAgra Foods sold it to investors — purchased grain handler DeBruce Companies last year, making it the third-largest U.S. grain storage network behind ADM and Cargill Inc.

Each set has stories that relate to each other, even if not obviously. Put these things together, please. What you see is not the architectural blueprints for the Kingdom of Heaven. Think about that for a little while.

PIGford

For just over a month, now, the echoing whisper of “Pigford” has drifted down into the dungeons. A little information was found– settlements for lawsuits rife with fraud and paid with taxpayer dollars. But, the other whisper that came with that name was “Breitbart will be addressing this, soon. . .”

Well, and so he has. BigGovernment (ed. Yes, there was a typo before, fixed it) today is overflowing with Pigford. (Emphasis mine)

I stumbled on the Pigford story in my defense of the Tea Party, so it’s a sweet irony that the Pigford story is exactly the kind of mess that makes the Tea Party so necessary. Politicians and trial attorneys bonded together to rip off the taxpayer, and even those farmers that were discriminated against were royally screwed.

Let me be clear, our investigation convincingly leads us to believe the USDA practiced discrimination against black farmers. Those wrongs must be rectified. But Pigford is wrought with a grotesque amount of fraud, while the truly aggrieved were mostly left high and dry.

The Pigford tale is about government run amok. It is also an indictment of the American media that is so blinded by ideology that it missed the big story yet again because taking out a political enemy was far more expedient. And furthermore it is why the American people need the Tea Party and new media as a checks and balances on corrupt politicians and their corrupt journalist counterparts.

I’m a bit at a loss for words, so I’ll let IAmDagny (a commenter at Honeytrail) speak

It is common knowledge that once the new congress is seated in January, they will move to hamstring the Obama regime by defunding various scourges such as the out-of-control EPA, ACORN and, of course, ObamaCare. Knowing this, the regime is now moving, with the help of the lame duck congress, to grant itself unconstitutional budgetary powers, namely this: As it stands now, the Congress sets the budget, with each department or program getting a specific amount of money as laid out in writing in the budget. The Obama regime is going to give itself the power to TRANSFER MONEY BETWEEN PROGRAMS at its sole discretion. So if the congress defunds ObamaCare or the EPA, Obama will now be able to simply move money from the defense budget, or the USDA, or anything else, back into the accounts of these evil, unconstitutional programs.

What this means is that the congress will now set ONLY A GROSS DOLLAR FIGURE for the budget, and Obama will have total carte blanche to allocate that money AT HIS SOLE DISCRETION.

This is an abomination. This guts the essence of the House of Representatives, and therefore robs the entire Legislative Branch of their power– giving it directly to the Executive. When Glenn Beck was talking the other day about the transition of the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire, I thought he was using it as good illustration, a historical metaphor, if you will. Little did I think, it would be the actual playbook!

Listen to us, little prince! We are Americans. We have no King — save for the Maker of the Cosmos Himself– and we need no King! No King, no Emperor, no little Caesar to dictate what happens where and how!

Make no mistake, dear friends, the power of the purse is the key of all the power in DC. Laws and regulations are meaningless without the funding to enforce them. This is why the House — the body with the most members, and most likely to fight each other in the streets, dignity be damned– has this power. It is the balance again Executive demands– the Commander in Chief can order jets to bomb Yemen, but if Congress stops the funding for the bombs, very few will fall.

But, if the Single Executive has the power of the Gun and the Purse, what does he not have? If conservatives vex him, he can gut Defense spending to pay for unemployment. He can do anything he wants, at all. Did he not take an Oath, before God and the Nations, to uphold and defend The Constitution? If he has deliberately violated his Oath, what does that mean?

And at this point, people, I think we truly no longer have a Republic. Not if this happens. No Republic, no freedom, no America.

(Upside: Now we can crack corny jokes about “Back, in the Glorious Days of the Republic!” . . . no, that’s not much of an upside, is it?)
